Johnny W. Tjupurrula - Snake/book
Johnny W. remembers selling an important artwork in his early days for $150 which allowed him to purchase many food items he and his family needed. That very same painting, ‘Water Dreaming at Kalipinypa’ eventually changed hands for a record at the time of $206, 000. It is difficult to convey the massive contribution that Johnny W. made to Indigenous art, but suffice to say he is rated as the 10th most important artist by Cooee arts in terms of sales. Size 96x51cm
